From Ora 03 to Ora 5, GWM transforms the electric hatchback into a high-riding crossover
Remember when pictures of GWM’s latest electric crossover were leaked ahead of its launch? Well, the automaker has officially revealed it in full, and boy, does it look cute.
Say hello to the GWM Ora 5, and yes, it’s essentially the crossover version of the Ora 03 (AKA Ora Good Cat). Set to compete against the likes of the BYD Atto 3, the GWM Ora 5 gets the same “cat family” design as the other EVs but serves as a compact electric crossover that’s both stylish and brimming with tech.

Starting with its design, the GWM Ora 5 gets a pair of round LED headlights, a sloping hood, and a distinct front bumper with a large lower air intake. Like the 03, the Ora 5 also comes with the unique-looking tailgate, complete with the integrated LED taillights on the rear glass. Last but not least, the Ora 5 comes with 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels and roof rails that highlight its crossover SUV proportions.
Size-wise, the Ora 5 measures 4471mm long, 1833mm wide, 1641mm tall, and has a 2720mm wheelbase. Its ground clearance was not listed, although we suspect it’s more than 150mm, give or take.

Hop inside, and the Ora 5 greets you with an interior that blends both the future and the present. Depending on the variant or customer preference, the cabin can be specified with three color themes: Dawn White, Midnight Gray, and Noon Brown. Sitting front & center on the dashboard is a huge touchscreen infotainment system that runs on the latest Coffee OS system by GWM. It also comes with Coffee GPT and DeepSeek for artificial intelligence services at your fingertips.

Other creature comforts and amenities present in the Ora 5 include column gear selector, a wireless charging pad, a panoramic glass roof, 64-color ambient lighting, power-adjustable front seats, and a host of charging ports for the front & rear passengers.
Powering the Ora 5 is a 150 kW (or 204 PS) electric motor that drives the front wheels. Power is then supplied by a lithium-iron phosphate battery pack, although exact battery capacities have yet to be revealed. However, it’s highly likely to be available with three battery size choices: 63.87 kWh and 83.49 kWh, which give up a range of up to 555 km and 705 km, respectively, in the Ora Lightning Cat sedan.

With the Ora 5 set to take on the likes of the BYD Atto 3 in China, could GWM Philippines bring it here, or would they instead focus on pickup trucks, ICE, and hybrid models?
