Yet-to-be-launched BYD Atto 2 EV spotted parked somewhere in PH

As early as last year, BYD Cars Philippines has been preparing to launch several new models for 2026. One of those is the BYD Atto 2, a subcompact crossover EV that will slot below the Atto 3. It has yet to be launched by the automaker, but has already received clearance from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and has also been recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE) as an electric vehicle.

As we enter the tail-end of January 2026, it looks like we can expect the BYD Atto 2 to make its official launch soon. This comes after a social media user was able to spot the Atto 2 parked somewhere in the country. Not only that, but the Atto 2 had an LTO conduction sticker and temporary dealer plates, further indicating the Atto 2 is inching closer to an official debut.

Detailed specifications of the Atto 2 for the Philippines are not yet available. But based on what we've gathered before, the PH-spec Atto 2 will most likely be offered in two variants: Dynamic and Premium. The former comes with a 32 kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor that puts out 70 kW (or 95 PS) with 180 Nm of torque. On a full charge, the Atto 2 Dynamic is rated to travel up to 280 km based on the NEDC cycle.

Over to the Atto 2 Premium, this version gets a bigger 45.12 kWh battery pack. It also gets a more powerful electric motor that produces 130 kW (or 177 PS) and 290 Nm of torque. A single charge will give the Atto 2 Premium a range of up to 380 km based on the NEDC cycle.

As far as recharging is concerned, the BYD Atto 2 supports both AC and DC fast charging. The former is rated up to 7kW, while DC fast charging can recharge the EV with up to 65 kW (45 kW only for the Dynamic).

With the Atto 2 already spotted on Philippine roads, perhaps this will be one of many launches BYD Cars Philippines will hold in the not-so-distant future. The Atto 2 could be followed by the Sealion 7 EV and the Sealion 8 PHEV, which have also been recognized by the DOE not too long ago. Here's to hoping we won't have to wait long for the launch of the Atto 2 and the other upcoming BYD vehicles.
