Kia EV9 will arrive before 2024 ends according to insider info

The electric vehicle (EV) market may be experiencing a slowdown when it comes to demand, but that doesn't mean automakers have decided to stop bringing in their all-electric models. In fact, we just got word that Kia Philippines is set to launch the EV9 flagship SUV.

According to an insider who wished to remain anonymous, the Kia EV9 is set to arrive in the country later this year. With only 5 months remaining before the year ends, it looks like ACMobility, Ayala Coroporation's mobility arm, will be busy in the coming months.

What can we expect from the EV9 once it's launched here? First revealed and launched in Korea last year, the EV9 measures 5010mm long, 1980mm wide, 1755mm tall, and has a generous 3100mm wheelbase. It features a boxy yet futuristic styling along with distinct LED lighting signatures that are now present among other Kia models.

Inside, the EV9 is available in six- or seven-seat configurations with four second-row seating options. A pair of high-resolution displays come as standard inside the EV9 and act as the vehicle's digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system.

Although the EV9 has various powertrain options, no exact powertrain options have yet been revealed for the Philippine market. The base RWD Standard comes with a 76.1 kWh battery that sends power to a single electric motor that puts out 215 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the RWD Long Range gets a bigger 99.8 kWh battery pack and is paired with a single electric motor that only puts out 201 PS but gets the same 350 Nm of pull.

Last but not least is the top-of-the-line AWD version which gets a 99.8 kWh battery pack and a pair of electric motors that dole out a combined 380 PS with 600 Nm of pull. It also has an optional boost feature which kicks up the torque output to 700 Nm – allowing the vehicle to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds for a short while.

Depending on the variant, the Kia EV9 can travel up to 541 km and comes with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability to power up electronic devices during a blackout or a worksite/campsite.

With the Kia EV9 set to arrive later this year, we won't be surprised if there are already interested customers who wish to get one. In fact, our insider shared with us that they have already sold out the initial units for the Philippine market. With that, those who wish to get one shortly might have to wait a little longer before new units become available.

Once revealed, the EV9 will join the likes of the EV6 which is already available in the country.
