It's back: Chery QQ returns as fully-electric hatchback

All-new Chery QQ3 makes electric comeback

After Chery announced it would be making a comeback, the hatchback that has a very colorful history in the Philippine automotive industry made a return in the People's Republic.

This is the all-new Chery QQ3 hatchback, and it's now an electric vehicle (EV). Unlike its predecessor, which was more of a budget city car with questionable build quality, the all-new QQ3 EV is bigger, more stylish, and can cruise more than 400 km on a single charge.

Starting with its design, the all-new QQ3 EV features a more rounded exterior that appears to have been inspired by European hatchbacks. It gets a pair of eye-catching LED headlights with distinct LED daytime running lights, unique alloy wheels, and the signature “Qq” logo on the hood and D-pillars. Also present are the Mini Clubman-like LED taillights, generous use of black body cladding, and QQ badges throughout the exterior.

Size-wise, the all-new QQ3 measures 4195mm long, 1811mm wide, 1573mm tall, and has a 2700mm wheelbase. The rear cargo area can store up to 375 liters worth of luggage and can be increased to 1,450 liters with the rear seats folded.

Hop inside, and the QQ3 EV welcomes passengers into a quirky and high-tech cabin. Despite its small dimensions, the EV comes with a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also has a two-spoke steering wheel with the “Qq” logo, a digital instrument panel, 256-color ambient lighting, and a wireless charging pad for smartphones.

Powering the all-new QQ EV is a single rear electric motor that's available in two states of tune: 58 kW (or 78 PS) and 90 kW (or 122 PS). Depending on the variant, the lithium-iron phosphate battery provides a range between 280 km and 401 km on a single charge. It also has a top speed of 125 km/h.

With EVs continuing to grow in popularity, can we expect Chery to bring back the QQ as an EV to the Philippines?
