Ford Mustang Mach-E now listed on LTO's newly-homologated vehicles

We can expect to see electrified vehicles from Ford Philippines starting next year. The newly appointed Ford Philippines Managing Director Pedro Simoes recently announced that the company will bring electrified models to the country in 2025.

But what electrified vehicles can we expect from the Blue Oval next year? For now, the executive has yet to elaborate on what they will be bringing in 2025. However, several possible examples could make their Philippine debut in the future.

First up is the Ranger PHEV which comes with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine that's assisted by an electric motor and an 11.8 kWh battery pack. The result is a total system output of 279 PS and 690 Nm of torque. It also benefits from a V2L system to power appliances and other gadgets during a blackout or in the great outdoors.

Another possible electrified Ford we initially thought could make its way here is the Ford Explorer Hybrid. However, the 2025 model year facelift of the Explorer sees the Hybrid variant being discontinued. That's because the hybrid EcoBoost powertrain is seeing high demand on the Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility. This has resulted in the Blue Oval focusing its hybrid engines for police fleet customers.

But the Ford vehicle with the highest possibility of being launched next year is the Mustang Mach-E. How so? Well, based on new memorandum circulars that were recently approved by the Land Transportation Office (LTO), the Mustang Mach-E was recently homologated for the Philippines. In addition, the LTO documents show that there will be two distinct variants of the Mustang Mach-E.

First is the Mustang Mach-E Premium which will likely serve as the entry-level variant. It has a cruising range of up to 600 km and is powered by what appears to be a single electric motor that makes 216 kW or 294 PS. It will also have a top speed of 180 km/h, a curb weight of 2,098 kg, and a ground clearance of 172mm. Last but not least, the Mustang Mach-E Premium will measure 4728mm long, 1881mm wide, 1634mm tall, and has a 2984mm wheelbase.

Up next is the Mustang Mach-E GT which could be the top-of-the-line offering. It only has a range of up to 490 km but makes more power thanks to what might be a pair of electric motors that dish out a combined 358 kW or 486 PS. Its top speed is rated at 200 km/h while its curb weight is listed as 2,281 kg. It also has the same dimensions as the Mach-E Premium but unlike that particular variant which gets 19-inch alloy wheels, the Mach-E GT comes with bigger 20-inch alloys.

With the Mustang Mach-E now listed on the LTO's homologated vehicles, we can probably expect Ford's sporty EV to make its Philippine debut next year. Hopefully, in the future, we can also expect the Ranger PHEV to be offered later in the year. The only question now is, when will the Blue Oval hold the Mustang Mach-E's official launch and how will the automaker price it?
