Chery's Exeed brand has a sleek & luxurious EV sedan called the Sterra ES

Chery may now be known for having Tiggo crossovers, but did you know the automaker also makes luxury vehicles? In case you haven’t heard about it yet, Chery has a luxury brand called “Exeed”. Think of it like Toyota’s Lexus or Honda’s Acura line. Heck, just last year an Exeed crossover was spotted being driven on PH roads.

Now while it seems Exeed only makes crossover SUVs, Chery’s luxury line also makes sleek sedans, and what you’re seeing right now could just be the brand’s most handsome-looking saloon to date.

This is the Exeed Sterra ES; boy is it quite the luxury sedan. Also called the Exlantix ES, this sporty-looking four-door has all the right curves in the right places. From its long hood fastback design to the eye-catching LED headlights & taillights, and Aston Martin-like rear end, the Sterra ES looks like it’s in motion while being stationary. It also has flush door handles, curvaceous fenders, sleek lines, gloss black accents, and stylish 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/50 series tires.

Size-wise, the Exeed Sterra ES EV is almost as big as full-size sedans. It measures 4945mm long, 1978mm wide, 1480mm tall, and has a generous 3000mm wheelbase. While it may not be obvious, the Exeed Sterra ES is equipped with an air suspension that delivers better riding comfort and also aids in handling.

Hop inside and the Sterra ES welcomes occupants into a tech-laden cabin. Immediately greeting you is a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen media display that is nearly as big as a laptop monitor. The center console, meanwhile, features a pair of wireless charging pads that can recharge phones along with several cubby holes and hidden storage panels.

Complementing the large infotainment screen is a sleek digital instrument cluster that sits in front of a unique two-spoke steering wheel with multi-function buttons. Other key features present inside the vehicle are power-adjustable front seats with heating/cooling functions, LED ambient lighting, a stalk-style gear selector, a panoramic glass roof, and a 23-speaker sound system.

Depending on the specification or variant chosen, the Exeed Sterra ES can come with a single electric motor or with a dual-motor AWD system. The range starts with the RWD 550 which puts out 252 PS and can cover 550 km on a fully charged 60.5 kWh battery. Next is the RWD 605 which makes the same amount of power but gets a bigger 66.4 kWh battery pack that provides 605 km of range.

Next are the RWD 720 and RWD 905 variants. The former comes with a 79.9 kWh battery while the latter gets a larger 97.7 kWh battery pack. From their namesakes, the latter has a claimed range of 905 km while the former is said to be capable of covering up to 720 km. Both variants are powered by a single electric motor that produces 313 PS.

Last but not least is the most powerful version called the 4WD 650. Thanks to a pair of electric motors, the Exeed Sterra ES cranks out 480 PS and is paired with a 79.9 kWh battery pack. On a full charge, it can do up to 650 km.

While crossovers and SUVs may be all the rage today, you have to hand it to brands like Chery’s Exeed to continue making sedans. Better yet, they made a luxury saloon that not only looks good but can perhaps put other bigger brands on notice with its performance. Do you think the Exeed Sterra ES could make sense in the Philippines if priced right?
