Elettrica: Ferrari reveals chassis of its first-ever EV
Ferrari to launch its first-ever EV next year
Remember when our spy photographers managed to take photos of what appeared to be Ferrari's EV test mule? Well, the Maranello-based brand has officially confirmed they are indeed working on a fully electric Ferrari.
In fact, Ferrari has chosen Capital Markets Day 2025 as the occasion to reveal the production-ready chassis (including the components) for its first-ever EV. Yes, the brand known for making V6, V8, and V12-powered stallions is joining the EV market.
It will be called Ferrari Eletricca, and it's set to be the fastest (zero emissions) thoroughbred from Maranello thanks to its powerful electric motors, high-voltage battery, and unique chassis.
Starting with the important bits first, the Eletricca will come with four electric motors, with both the front and rear e-axles comprising two independent electric engines. They work in concert to enable torque vectoring, as well as deliver instantaneous acceleration with no delay. Every part of the front and rear e-axles was developed in-house by Ferrari to keep the signature performance known by the Maranello brand.
The front e-axle makes 286 PS and is derived from the F80 hypercar. Meanwhile, the rear e-axle generates an impressive 843 PS, which translates to a combined system output of 986 PS. But in boost mode, the Elettrica delivers an impressive 1,000 PS on tap. As a result, Ferrari says the EV can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 310 km/h.
Powering the Electtrica is a high-voltage 122 kWh battery that's designed and assembled completely in-house by Ferrari. It's integrated onto the floor pan, which allows for a lower center of gravity by 80mm compared to an equivalent ICE-powered model. On a full charge, the Ferrari Elettrica can travel beyond 530 km and supports DC fast-charging of up to 350 kW. Moreover, the battery itself benefits from liquid cooling to keep the battery at optimal temperatures.
As for the chassis itself, Ferrari says it's made from 75% recycled aluminum and features design elements from the brand's rear-engine Berlinettas. It also has a 2960mm wheelbase with short overhangs, which could translate to improved road-holding capability while also delivering a pliant ride. Speaking of handling, the Elettrica will feature the brand's 48V active suspension system derived from the Purosangue and F80 flagship hypercar.
Ferrari plans to launch the Elettrica next year in spring, which means it could be unveiled in early Q2 or sometime in Q3 2026. With Maranello set to launch its first-ever EV, we're curious to see what Ferrari purists will have to say about the Elettrica. Heck, we're wondering what Enzo Ferrari is thinking in the afterlife.
