DPWH rushing to complete remaining sections of of Panguil Bay Bridge

Work on Panguil Bay Bridge is at 90% completion

Earlier this year, the Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH) announced that work on the 3.17-kilometer Panguil Bay Bridge was already at 89% completion. Intending to finish the bridge this year, the government agency is working Fast forward several months later and the DPWH is looking to complete the last remaining sections of the soon-to-be-completed infrastructure.

In a report by DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, he shared that the inter-island bridge project in Northern Mindanao is already at 90%. In fact, there is only a 38.75-meter gap left to link the Panguil Bay Bridge from Tangub City, Misamis Occidental to Tubod, Lanao Del Norte.

“We are currently rushing works on both sides of the Tangub and Tubod approaches as well as the remaining three (3) gaps to fully connect the whole Panguil Bay Bridge,” said Sadain.

Once completed, the 3.17-kilometer sea-crossing bridge will greatly reduce travel time between Lanao Del Norte and Misamis Occidental from 2.5 hours using a RoRo vessel to just 7 minutes using the bridge.

Civil works on the said bridge first commenced back in 2020 amid the pandemic. It also faced additional hurdles due to insufficient fund allocation which further hampered the Panguil Bay Bridge's progress and implementation.

“Despite these setbacks, the project persevered, demonstrating DPWH resilience and underscores the commitment of President Marcos's administration to advancing vital infrastructure projects that will contribute to the nation's progress and prosperity under Bagong Pilipinas,” added Sadain.

With overall progress almost at 100%, we might only be months away from the official completion of the Panguil Bay Bridge.
