NLEX-SLEX Connector along Skyway System to open in 2027

Motorists who frequently travel between the North Luzon Expressway, the Skyway System, and the South Luzon Expressway will soon be able to seamlessly get from one toll road to another.

This comes after the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that the Skyway Stage 3 (SS3) section that will connect the Skyway System to the NLEX-SLEX Connector will be operational starting next year. This was officially confirmed by Acting DOTr Secretary Giovani Lopez during an inspection on the said project yesterday.

According to Lopez, the NLEX-SLEX Connect will cut travel time between Skyway and Buendia from two hours to around 30 minutes. On the other hand, travel time from Skyway to Buendia and up to Port Area will take around 25 minutes. It is estimated that around 30,000 motorists are expected to use the NLEX-SLEX Connector per day once it's operational.

“Ang benepisyo dito ay ang sinasabi ng ating Pangulo [Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.] na we have to cut travel time. 'Yung oras natin na nasasayang sa trapiko, sa congestion sa kalsada ay we can spend more of it sa ating pamilya,” said Lopez.

The upcoming connector will be an elevated road that will span 1.2 kilometers and will have two lanes in each direction. It will serve as an alternate route for motorists passing through R-10, Altura, España, and Araneta.

With the NLEX-SLEX Connector set to be opened sometime in 2027, motorists will have another means of getting to and from NLEX and SLEX via the Skyway system.
