Customers who will subscribe to VinFast's battery subscription can enjoy several perks and lower prices

VinFast Philippines wants to make electric vehicle (EV) ownership less of a hassle for Filipino customers, as well as give interested buyers peace of mind when it comes to long-term ownership.

After launching the Residual Value Guarantee (RVG) Program last year, VinFast Philippines relaunched its battery subscription service to give customers a financial safety net when it comes to EV ownership, as well as offer big discounts on its vehicles.

According to Toti Zara, CEO of VinFast Southeast Asia, the battery subscription program is aimed at customers who are transitioning from internal combustion (ICE) to EVs. Moreover, interested customers can pay as low as PHP 1,600 per month, depending on the EV they've chosen. Once buyers have selected their preferred EV and plan, the battery subscription service is renewable every two years.

But what do VinFast customers get from the battery subscription service? For starters, battery health risk is removed, as VinFast will replace the EV battery should battery health fall below 70%. Without the battery subscription service, normal depreciation of the battery health is not covered in the warranty outside of special cases.

Over to insurance, if the battery is damaged in an accident, insurance can cover the replacement, but repair costs will be deducted from the insured amount, and the new battery will only have a 4-year warranty. With a battery subscription, VinFast will replace the battery in the event of an accident. Speaking of insurance, VinFast says the battery subscription program translates to lower insurance premiums since the battery is not included in the vehicle purchase. This equates to less risk for the insurer and lower cost for the owner.

Last but certainly not least, customers who will subscribe will benefit from a lower suggested retail price. For example, the VF 3 will only retail for PHP 590,000 with the battery subscription (PHP 745,000 without). For customers who are thinking of getting one but can only get it via finance options, fret not. VinFast Philippines said customers can purchase EVs with financing, along with the battery subscription through their bank partners. In addition, VinFast can also buy back the cars via the aforementioned RVG program.
