Digital Gauge Issue: Toyota PH has a recall for 3,416 vehicles, 4 models

Gauge issue affects Alphard, Camry, Corolla and Corolla Cross

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has announced a recall that covers multiple models due to a potential issue with their digital instrument cluster.

According to the automaker, a total of 3,416 units are affected by the campaign. 2,708 of those involve Alphard units made from June 12, 2023, to May 19, 2025. 597 of those are Corolla Cross units made from November 1, 2023, to October 21, 2024. 110 units involve the Corolla Altis sedan, which covers production dates from May 30, 2023, to September 20, 2024. Lastly, one unit of the Camry is involved in the recall, which was made on May 7, 2024.

The affected vehicles are equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that displays various information such as warning lights, indicators, and gauges. TMP explained that a programming error may cause the system to repeatedly save unnecessary data, leading to premature memory depletion.

If this occurs, the screen may fail to turn on when starting the vehicle and remain blank while driving. With no visible speedometer, warning lights, or other critical indicators, the risk of accidents may increase in certain driving situations.

TMP assures customers that owners of affected vehicles will be notified through official letters and will be invited by authorized Toyota dealerships to have the system reprogrammed or replaced at no cost. Customers may also verify if their unit is covered by the recall by visiting Toyota’s Service Campaign portal.

However, TMP clarified that the reprogramming software and replacement parts for the campaign are not yet available. These are expected to arrive by October 2025 or later.

Once the parts are ready, Toyota strongly encourages affected customers to set an appointment with their preferred dealer to carry out the necessary repairs. Owners may also opt to schedule the service during their vehicle’s regular Periodic Maintenance appointment.
