Style meets tech in the GAC Hyptec HT EV

It wasn’t only the Aion V that GAC International launched yesterday. The automaker has also revealed a midsize crossover SUV that appears to have been inspired by the Tesla Model X.

Say hello to the GAC Hyptec HT and its signature gullwing doors. With its massive size, impressive battery capacity, and a host of amenities to rival those of more premium vehicles, the Hyptec HT serves as GAC International’s most high-tech EV yet for the Philippine market.

It serves as the brand’s flagship model and measures 4935mm long, 1920mm wide, 1700mm tall, and has a generous 2935mm wheelbase. It also features an avant-garde design that exudes high-class and a premium look & feel. From the large LED headlights to the coupe-like profile and the rakish rear, the Hyptec HT is a looker from every angle.

As mentioned earlier, the top-of-the-line model (dubbed Ultra) comes with the stylish and high-tech gullwing doors that open and close automatically. Not only do they serve to make your ingress and egress special, but they also make for one heck of a statement. Do remember, however, that this feature is only available for the Ultra, as the entry-level Premium only gets traditional doors with the flush door handles.

Other key exterior features include 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/50 series tires, heated side mirrors, a panoramic skylight with heat insulation and rear privacy glass (Ultra only), a power tailgate, and a panoramic sunshade.

Hop inside, and the Hyptec HT welcomes you into a high-tech cabin that’s equipped with countless features. At the center of the dashboard is a 14.6-inch 5K touchscreen media display that’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset. It supports a multimedia system, complete with navigation and Apple CarPlay as standard. It also has a 22-speaker Dolby Atmos surround sound system and intelligent voice control. Topping it all off is a 50W wireless charging pad that’s air-cooled to keep your device at optimal temperatures.

Occupants will also be happy to know the Hyptec HT comes with Nappa leather all around and power-adjustable seats with heating, cooling, massage, and memory functions. The rear passengers, meanwhile, get “King Chairs” that offer plenty of comfort and space. Other key amenities include dual-zone climate control, rear passenger footrests, a host of USB charging ports, ambient lighting, and a microfiber steering wheel.

At the heart of the Hyptec HT is the brand’s Magazine Battery that has a capacity of 83 kWh. The lithium-iron phosphate battery then supplies power to a rear electric motor that produces 340 PS and 380 Nm of torque. GAC claims it can go from 0 - 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 183 km/h. The battery can be recharged via a Type 2 CCS2 system that supports 6.6 kW AC charging and 280 kW of fast DC charging.

On a full charge, the Hyptec HT can travel up to 605 km based on the NEDC cycle and can be recharged from 10% to 70% in just 15 minutes via a 280 kW DC charger. For extra peace of mind, GAC says its battery has a lifespan of 1.5 million kilometers or 15 years. Last but not least, the Hyptec HT has a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system that supports 3.3 kW of external discharge.
