Chery’s new PHEV crossover can cover 1,300 km on a full tank & battery
2024 Chery Tansuo 06 C-DM PHEV to debut at Auto China 2024
Chery is set to show that its electrified vehicles are not only eco-friendly but are also powerful and deliver impressive range when it has a fully charged battery and a full tank of gasoline. Heck, they will be at this year’s Auto China (AKA the Beijing Auto Show) to reveal something special.
Set to make its debut this week is the Chery Tansuo 06 C-DM, and despite having quite the unique name, this sleek and stylish crossover packs a plug-in hybrid powertrain that allows it to deliver fast acceleration while being easy on the fuel bills. But wait a moment, doesn’t it look like a certain vehicle from another (Chery-related) brand?
That’s right, the Tansuo 06 is actually the basis of the Jaecoo J7 (or Jaecoo 7). First revealed in prototype form during the 2023 Shanghai Motor Show, the Tansuo 06 eventually became a reality and was used by Jaecoo to make a rebadged version called the J7. Back to the vehicle itself, the Tansuo 06 C-DM is the plug-in hybrid variant of the compact crossover which is initially offered with a 1.6-liter turbo pushing out 197 PS with 290 Nm of torque and is saddled with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox.
As for the PHEV Tansuo 06 C-DM, the particular plug-in hybrid is powered by a Kunpeng Super Hybrid C-DM system. It consists of an Acteco 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s assisted by a hybrid intelligent electric management system and continuously variable super hybrid DHT (dedicated hybrid transmission). The engine alone already makes a potent 156 PS with 220 Nm of torque, has a thermal efficiency of 44.5%, and uses the Miller cycle for more efficient combustion.
The specifications about its hybrid system remain a mystery although it might have a pair of electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack, just like the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV and the Tiggo 8 Pro e+ PHEV crossovers. With that, we may expect the Tansuo 06 CD-M to have a combined system output of 320 PS and over 500 Nm of torque.
With a full tank of gasoline and a fully charged battery, Chery claims the vehicle can cover 1,300 km. In addition, the battery pack will give the PHEV a claimed electric range of 120 km which is equally impressive.
As for its features, the vehicle will come with a 13.2-inch infotainment display and is complemented by a fully digital instrument cluster. The tablet-inspired touchscreen infotainment system houses most of the vehicle’s in-car features and amenities.
Other details regarding the vehicle have yet to be revealed. But since the Beijing Auto Show is only several days away, we will be keeping our eyes peeled for any new info. In addition, we’re curious if this particular PHEV could make its way to the Philippines.
