Governor's Drive Interchange on-track for opening in second half of 2025

Last year, MPCALA Holdings Inc., the official concessionaire of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway, announced that the Governor's Drive Interchange will open in 2025. This came after the company said that work on the segment reached 25% completion as of September 2024.

Fast forward to February 2025, MPCALA Holdings Inc. shared that the Governor's Drive Interchange is on track to open later this year. In fact, the company recently announced that the segment is now nearing 40% completion and is on track for target opening in the second half of 2025.

Once this section is completed, the 8.64-kilometer segment will connect the Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange with Governor's Drive in General Trias, Cavite. Moreover, the new interchange is expected to decongest traffic in the area as well as improve travel time between General Trias and nearby areas.

“We are committed to completing the entire stretch of CALAX by 2025. Its full opening will not only ease traffic and improve connectivity but also support economic growth by enhancing access to key areas in Cavite and Laguna,” said Elnora D. Rumawak, Officer-in-Charge of MPCALA Holdings Inc.

On the other hand, construction continues on its remaining sections, with Subsection 1 (Kawit Interchange) now over 31% complete, and Subsection 2 (Open Canal Interchange) at 21.9% completion.

Once the entire expressway is finished, CALAX will stretch 45 kilometers and seamlessly link Mamplasan Rotunda in Laguna to Kawit, Cavite. More importantly, it will help motorists traveling between SLEX and CAVITEX via the CAVITEX-CALAX Link. It's also expected to benefit up to 95,000 motorists daily which will significantly improve travel time in the region.
