DOE has officially recognized the BMW 330e, 530e as plug-in hybrids for PH
Earlier this year, several existing models from BMW Philippines were recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE) as hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). These include the 520i Hybrid, the 735i, the X7 xDrive40d, the X5 xDrive30d, and the X6 xDrive30d.
Soon, BMW's hybrid lineup in the country may also include the all-new X3 20xDrive and the X5 xDrive40i, which were listed by the DOE as HEVs. However, the automaker will soon expand its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) offerings.

While the automaker now offers the BMW 750e, the X3 xDrive30e, the X5 xDrive50e, the M5, and the recently launched X1 xDrive25e, BMW PH's list of PHEVs will soon also include the 330e and 530e. That's right, the G20 and G60 models of the 3 Series & 5 Series will also soon be available as PHEVs.
Based on the DOE listing, the BMW 330e has a maximum engine power of 135 kW or 184 PS and a maximum electric power of 80 kW or 109 PS. It also has a 12 kWh battery, which could give the 330e an electric range of more than 50 km. Over to the 530e, it has a maximum engine power of 140 kW or 190 PS, along with a maximum electric output of 135 kW or 184 PS. Last but not least is a battery pack that's rated at 22.1 kWh.

A quick look at what other markets get, and the BMW 330e has a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo engine that puts out 184 PS and an electric motor that's capable of producing 113 PS. This translates to a combined system output of 252 PS with 420 Nm of torque and an electric range of up to 60 km on battery power alone.
Meanwhile, the 530e is also powered by a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-four that puts out 190 PS and is assisted by an electric motor that generates 184 PS. This gives the 530e a combined output of 299 PS and 450 Nm of torque. On battery power alone, the 530e's 22.1 kWh battery pack gives the electrified sedan an electric range of up to 100 km.

With BMW Philippines set to bring more PHEVs into the country, customers will be spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing their preferred electrified BMW model. We're curious as to when BMW Philippines plans to launch its new PHEVs.
