Mazda CX-6e is a stylish, all-electric midsize crossover SUV

Mazda is joining the electric crossover market with something sleek and bold. While they already showed the 6e last year, they brought something new to please the crossover SUV crowd.

This is the Mazda CX-6e, and just like the 6e, it was made possible thanks to the automaker's partnership with Changan's premium brand, Deepal. In fact, the CX-6e is essentially based on the Deepal S07 but has Mazda's design philosophy all over the exterior.

But first, let's get to know more about its electric hardware. Powering the Mazda CX-6e is a 78 kWh battery pack that drives a single rear electric motor. It puts out 258 PS with 290 Nm of torque and has a claimed range of up to 483 km, based on the WLTP cycle. From a standstill, Mazda says the CX-6e can reach 100 km/h in less than 8 seconds.

When it comes to recharging the CX-6e, it supports both AC and fast DC charging, with the latter rated to support up to 195 kW. This means the battery can be recharged from 10% to 80% in around 24 minutes. When hooked up to an 11 kW AC charger, recharging the Mazda CX-6e to full will take more than 8 hours.

Design-wise, the CX-6e takes inspiration from the 6e with its coupe-like profile and sleek proportions. The front fascia is dominated by a unique lighting signature that mimics the signature Mazda grille, which then flanks toward the LED daytime running lights. The rear, meanwhile, features distinct LED taillights and angular D-pillars that highlight the vehicle's coupe-inspired design.

Hop inside, and the CX-6e welcomes guests with a massive 26-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Instead of a digital gauge cluster, the CX-6e uses a heads-up display to show vital information to the driver. It also has digital side mirrors, a two-tone leather interior, integrated speakers on the front headrests, a panoramic sunroof, LED ambient lighting, and a 23-speaker sound system (14 speakers on lesser versions).
