2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty shows off its heavy-duty capabilities

When it comes to hauling cargo and goods with ease, Ford has a Ranger pickup to do it all without breaking a sweat. After breaking cover in Australia last year, the mighty Ford Ranger Super Duty has officially been shown in the metal at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show.

From its namesake, the Ranger Super Duty was specifically designed for heavy-duty use, particularly in moving cargo with ease. It was developed and torture-tested in the same proving grounds as the brand's F-Series of Super Duty trucks and comes with plenty of unique features.

For starters, it comes with 33-inch all-terrain tires, wider fender flares, beadlock-style alloy wheels, an integrated snorkel, and distinct bumpers finished in flat black. But what really makes the Ranger Super Duty stand out is its 4500 kg-rated gross vehicle mass (GVM), 4500 kg-rated braked towing capacity, and 8000 kg gross combined mass. This was all made possible thanks to a strengthened ladder-frame chassis.

Speaking of chassis, the suspension mounts, box mount brackets, and tow bar mounts have been reinforced to better carry the weight. It also has thick underchassis bash plates to shield the engine, front differential, transfer case, transmission, and fuel tank from impacts when going off-road.

The Blue Oval also installed beefier differentials and stronger driveshafts for the Ranger Super Duty by deriving the front diffs and bigger, solid rear axle from the Bronco Raptor to better cope with heavy abuse. Last but not least, the front & rear locking differentials are rated for off-road use and come with 8-stud wheel hubs with larger bolts for better load-bearing.

Complementing its ability to haul heavy cargo with ease is Ford's Smart Hitch system and onboard scales to help owners with optimum load distribution. The onboard scales can be accessed via the touchscreen infotainment system to check the overall weight.

Under the hood of the Ranger Super Duty is a 3.0L Power Stroke V6 turbo-diesel engine that cranks out 250 PS at 3250 rpm and 600 Nm of torque between 1750 and 2250 rpm. The engine is derived from the Ranger Wildtrak and Everest Platinum variants and comes with an upgraded cooling system and a bigger fuel tank capacity (from 80 liters to 130 liters).

Since Thailand now has the Ford Ranger Super Duty, it won't be long before Ford Philippines brings the Super Duty version. Perhaps we'll get to see it at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) later this year.
