2026 Chevrolet Captiva PHEV appears on the DOE's list of recognized plug-in hybrids
A few days ago, we learned that the Department of Energy (DOE) has officially recognized the Captiva EV as an electric vehicle. With that, perhaps we can expect Chevrolet Philippines distributor Hariphil Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) to launch its first-ever EV in the country.
Now, it looks like the bow-tie brand will also be bringing the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the crossover.
We took another look at the DOE website and recently saw the Captiva PHEV listed as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. What's more is that the electrified crossover is a 2026 model year and will be offered in the Premier variant. Size-wise, the Captiva PHEV measures 4745mm long, 1890mm wide, and 1675mm tall, making it have the same dimensions as the EV version.

The exact specifications of the Captiva PHEV for the Philippine market are not yet available, but a quick look at what other markets get has given us an idea of what to expect. For starters, it has a 1.5L engine that's assisted by an electric motor and a battery pack. The engine alone makes 75 kW or 102 PS, while the electric motor delivers 150 kW or 204 PS with 310 Nm of torque.
Last but not least is a 20.5 kWh battery pack, which gives the Captiva PHEV an electric range of up to 100 km on a single charge. With a fully charged battery and a full tank of gas, Chevrolet claims the Captiva PHEV can travel more than 1,000 km.

When it comes to amenities, the Captiva PHEV Premier will come with plenty of in-car features. We can expect the electrified crossover to come with features such as a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, a power tailgate, leather upholstery, and a host of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
With Chevrolet Philippines gearing up to join the electrified car market with the Captiva EV and Captiva PHEV, car buyers in the country will continue to be spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing EVs or PHEVs. The only question now is when we can expect the Captiva EV and Captiva PHEV to be revealed.
