The Other B-Class

Looks can be deceiving, but once in a while, you come across instances where it’s hard to tell them apart. Take this BAIC B80 that’s been kitted out in full Brabus fashion that looks similar to a Brabus G63. The German tuning house is widely regarded for working its magic on Mercedes Benz vehicles, including the mighty G63.

Based on how it looks, the BAIC Brabus B80 certainly does look the part. Thanks largely to its well-executed widebody kit. Highly similar to what Brabus developed specifically for the Mercedes Benz G63 called the Widestar.

The Brabus widebody kit on the BAIC B80 consists of carbon fiber treatments found on the hood and everywhere else on the vehicle including the wide fender flares that help accommodate the huge Brabus multi-spoked Monoblock wheel and tire combo.

While the G63 comes with a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo, V8 engine with over 500 PS, the BAIC B80 is being propelled by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine making 280 PS. While BAIC closely adhered to the looks department, they fell slightly behind when it came to making power.

To sum it up, the BAIC Brabus B80 looks similar to the Brabus G63. But when it comes down to function, it can never match the performance and technical prowess of the G63.

However, it is worth noting here that the Chinese BAIC Group currently holds 9.98 % of the company's voting rights, making it the largest individual shareholder of Mercedes-Benz Group AG. It's also worth mentioning that BAIC is Mercedes-Benz's automotive partner in the PRC.
