Arrivederci: Maserati bids farewell to V8 with Quattroporte Gran Finale

Quattroporte Gran Finale is the end of an era for V8-powered Maseratis

As the famous saying goes, nothing lasts forever, and Maserati has bid “arrivederci” to its V8 engine. Recently, the brand with the Trident logo revealed the Quattroporte Gran Finale, the swan song to the four-door luxury sedan as well as to the twin-turbo V8 powerplant.

Featuring unique exterior and interior touches made by the brand's in-house customization program (Maserati Fuoriserie), the House of the Trident made sure their final V8-powered model goes out with a bang.

For starters, the Quattroporte Gran Finale is finished in a special Blu Nobile color and is accompanied by a carbon fiber body kit painted in the same unique hue. Complementing the rest of the exterior are the brushed aluminum brake calipers which serve as a neat contrast against the blue hue.

Hop inside and the special edition Quattroporte features Italian artisanship and renowned mastery. These can be seen on the burl accents present on the steering wheel, the door panels finished in tan, black leather A-pillars, and the Trident logo with black stitching on the headrests.

Also, present inside the vehicle is the special “Grand Finale” on the central tunnel and the dedicated door sill with the same wording which highlights the sedan's lasting legacy. And should those not be enough, Maserati even installed an identification number on the windshield and inside the driver door that reads “999999”.

Under the hood, the Quattroporte Gran Finale gets the last Ferrari-derived 3.8L twin-turbo V8 that generates 580 PS along with a meaty 730 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox which allows the sedan to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in a brisk 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 326 km/h.

With the Quattroporte set to ride off into the sunset, it will take some time before Maserati reveals its new luxury sedan. However, we can expect the Quattroporte's successor to either have a twin-turbo V6 or an all-electric powertrain. Here's to hoping it will be as exhilarating and opulent as its predecessor.
