Nissan gets approval for a new passenger car with a 3492cc engine

Nissan had one heck of a booth last year at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show. Not only did they preview the Magnite and X-Trail e-Power, but they also launched the Z NISMO for the Philippine market.

Also making an appearance is the next-generation Patrol albeit covered in camouflage. First making its global debut in Abu Dhabi, the 7th generation Patrol (codenamed Y63) gets a revolutionary redesign, a more high-tech and opulent cabin, and a new twin-turbo V6 that replaces the naturally-aspirated 5.6L V8.

While it was nice for Nissan Philippines Inc. to preview the Patrol, we're wondering when can we expect the Y63 to officially make its way here. Fortunately, we might not have to wait any longer as Nissan Philippines Inc. could already be making the necessary preparations.

Recently, the automaker received approval for an upcoming passenger vehicle that's powered by a 3492cc engine. The yet-to-be-revealed Nissan also has a reference weight of up to 2846 kg and a gross vehicle weight of 3500 kg. After checking the numbers and cross-referencing them with what the automaker currently has, it looks like the all-new Nissan Patrol Y63 is on its way to the Philippines.

What can we expect once Nissan officially launches it in the country? As mentioned before, it will be powered by a new 3.5L twin-turbo V6 that makes 435 PS and a whopping 700 Nm of torque. Compared to the V8, the new V6 generates 30 more horsepower and an additional 140 Nm of pull. Power is then transferred to a 4WD system with a transfer mode interlock system and a new 9-speed automatic gearbox which replaces the previous 7-speed auto.

Other features we can expect from the all-new Patrol include a pair of 14.3-inch digital screens on the dashboard, optional 12.8-inch screens for the rear passengers, power-adjustable front seats with memory and massage function, LED ambient lighting, massive 22-inch alloy wheels, new C-shaped LED lighting signatures, and a more stylish tailgate.

With Nissan already getting approval for what could be the Patrol's new V6 powerplant, we might only be months before its Philippine debut. We're keeping our fingers crossed we won't have to wait for long.
