7th generation Nissan Patrol debuts with twin-turbo V6 pushing 425 PS

After giving us a glimpse of what to expect, Nissan has officially taken the covers off its next-generation flagship SUV. Ladies and gentlemen say hello to the all-new 2025 Nissan Patrol, and boy does it have plenty of surprises.

Set to go up against its rival the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, the seventh-generation Patrol (codenamed Y63) made its official debut at an exclusive event in Abu Dhabi. President & CEO of Nissan Makoto Uchida, together with global Nissan executives, VIPs, customers, and media were in attendance to witness the global unveiling of the brand's flagship luxury SUV.

“The all-new Patrol is a prime example of the exciting and empowering models we are delivering under our global business plan, The Arc. The seventh generation is a bold leap forward, blending unparalleled performance, cutting-edge technology, and a commanding presence to redefine what an SUV can be. With its history of more than 70 years, the Patrol perfectly embodies our corporate purpose of ‘Driving innovation to enrich people's lives’,” said Uchida.

Starting with the most obvious first, the 2025 Nissan Patrol features a premium design aesthetic that gives off an unmistakable road presence. Highlighting the vehicle's strength and capability over any terrain, the all-new Patrol features eye-catching C-shaped headlights with distinct LED lighting signatures that complement a massive new grille and an imposing front bumper.

It also gets huge 22-inch alloy wheels that not only provide extra bling but also give the Patrol generous ground clearance. Moving to the back, Nissan put a distinct LED light bar on the tailgate which connects with the stylish LED taillights – resulting in a dynamic and sporty appearance for the SUV.

Other key features present on the exterior of the 2025 Nissan Patrol include a two-tone paint finish, puddle lamps that show the Patrol's silhouette & the “Since 1951” text, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive LED headlights, and a plethora of colors for customers to choose from.

Open the doors and occupants are greeted to a spacious, high-tech, and comfortable cabin. It comes with quilted leather seats, traditional Japanese woodcraft called “Kumiko”, power-adjustable seats with massage function and eight-way adjustment, and a 64-color ambient lighting system.

Sitting proudly on the dashboard is an advanced infotainment system that measures a total of 28.6 inches. Aptly dubbed the Monolith display, it consists of two 14.3-inch digital screens that provide a comprehensive view of the infotainment system, navigation, and vehicle information for both the driver and front passenger. Rear passengers are also treated to a pair of optional 12.8-inch screens that come with entertainment features such as Miracast, HDMI, and USB inputs.

A 12-speaker Klipsch Premium sound system is available in the 2025 Patrol and is claimed to deliver crystal clear sound that seamlessly integrates into the Patrol's interior. It also features DynamicAudioReveal technology that ensures consistent clarity and depth by automatically adjusting the audio equalization based on environmental conditions. On the other hand, the DJX 3D surround sound system brings a rich concert-like sound experience for the occupants.

At the heart of the all-new Patrol is a new twin-turbo V6 engine. It displaces 3.5L and succeeds the venerable 5.6L naturally-aspirated V8. The six-cylinder motor cranks out an impressive 425 PS along with a healthy 700 Nm of torque – resulting in a 7% increase in power and a 25% boost in torque. The engine benefits from high-resistant turbochargers and a scavenge oil pump that ensures consistent lubrication on slopes and inclines for improved reliability and performance across all terrains.

Power is then transferred to a new 9-speed automatic transmission and is paired with a 4WD system with a transfer mode interlock system. Drivers will also be able to select from six drive modes; standard, sand, rock, mud/rut, eco, and sport.

For those that prefer a more subtle engine, the all-new Patrol is also available with a naturally aspirated 3.8L V6 that puts out 316 PS and 386 Nm of pull. Like the twin-turbo V6, this one is also mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox complete with the new 4WD system.

Last but not least, Nissan's Intelligent Safety features come as standard in the 2025 Patrol along with several more upgrades. It gets the NissanConnect 2.0 with built-in Google, ProPilot technology which gives drivers adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance, a 3D around-view monitor for extra visibility all-around, the intelligent rearview mirror, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking.

Those who will bring the 2025 Nissan Patrol off-road will be happy to know it also comes with the Panorama View. It has an ultra-wide view along with what Nissan calls the “Invisible Hood” view which projects real-time images of what's underneath the vehicle. This is great for off-roaders who need to get around uneven terrain and debris without needing a spotter.

The 2025 Nissan Patrol will be available across the brand's dealer network in UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the rest of the Middle East starting from November 1, 2024. With that, it might take a while before Nissan Philippines will be able to launch it here. Perhaps those interested may want to let the automaker know they plan to get one in the not-so-distant future.
