LTO approves three new MG ZS variants
We already know that MG Motor Philippines is getting ready to launch the ZS HEV. In fact, the automaker recently invited us for the big reveal, which will happen on July 3, 2025.
With only a month left before MG debuts its newest electrified vehicle, we're curious if the all-new ZS will still be offered with naturally aspirated engines for the lesser variants. Thanks to the Land Transportation Office's (LTO) newly homologated vehicles, we may no longer wonder.
Recently, the agency released a new list of approved vehicles, which included the MG ZS. The listed variants include the ZS CVT Comfort, ZS CVT Luxury, and ZS CVT Sport. In addition, all models of the MG ZS are equipped with a 1495cc gasoline engine, which translates to a 1.5-liter displacement.

All variants of the ZS will measure 4430mm long, 1818mm wide, and 1635mm tall. It also has a 2610mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 140mm. Compared to the current ZS, the all-new model is longer by 116mm, wider by 9mm, but is 13mm shorter in terms of height. However, the latest ZS has a longer wheelbase, which translates to better cargo room and cabin space.
With a 1495cc engine, it looks like the all-new ZS will still be offered with naturally aspirated models. That means the 1.5L naturally-aspirated four-cylinder found in the current ZS could be carried over to the latest generation. It makes a humble 114 PS with 150 Nm of torque and is coupled to a CVT that drives the front wheels.

This also likely means that the ZS HEV could serve as the top-of-the-line model with its 1.5L (1490cc) four-cylinder engine that's assisted by a 1.83 kWh battery and an electric motor. No official output figures have been released by the automaker, although it's highly likely to put out a combined 196 PS with 250 Nm of torque. Power is then transferred to a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT).
With the all-new MG ZS set for its Philippine debut next month, all we can do for now is wait for the official launch.
