All-new BMW 3 Series launches March 18, electric i3 to be revealed first
Next-generation BMW 3 Series to debut in i3 EV form with Neue Klasse look
After being spotted by our spies with production lights, in M3 EV form, and even being revealed by the automaker with a camouflage livery, BMW has announced that the all-new 3 Series is set to be revealed this March. Come March 18, 2026, BMW will officially unveil the next-generation 3 Series in EV form, dubbed the all-new i3. But even before the brand officially launches it, the automaker has released a teaser and new camouflaged photos of the upcoming sedan.
Starting with the teaser image seen above, the next-generation 3 Series will get the Neue Klasse look, just like the all-new iX3. Based on what our spies captured before, it will have a pair of LED daytime running lights that will flank the LED headlights. It will also be accompanied by the brand's new dual-kidney grille design, albeit smaller to fit the front fascia of the 3 Series.
Beyond that, BMW also released new photos of the upcoming 3 Series EV being driven in the snow somewhere in Sweden. It will be powered by the sixth-generation eDrive electric powertrain and will first be offered as the BMW i3 50 xDrive.
The i3 50 xDrive sedan will feature 800V technology and a charging capacity of up to 400 kW. It will also have two electric motors that deliver a combined 345 kW or 469 PS and a generous 645 Nm of torque.
“The BMW i3 applies the sporty sedan’s typical characteristics to a completely new vehicle concept defined by the BMW 3 Series DNA. At the same time, pushing the conventional boundaries of electric mobility into new territory, thanks to the potential of our Neue Klasse,” said Mike Reichelt, Head of Neue Klasse BMW.
As mentioned before, the next-generation 3 Series will have the “Heart of Joy” superbrain that will manage the powertrain, drivetrain, brakes, charging, energy recuperation, and steering.
BMW claims the superbrain can process information ten times faster than previous systems since it's capable of computing all the driving dynamics functions with a whole new level of speed and precision. This means the system can easily handle the demands of everyday driving, as well as spirited driving.
With March 18, 2026, only a couple of weeks away, we're sure to keep our eyes peeled for more info about the upcoming all-new 3 Series. We're also hoping we won't have to wait long for the brand to reveal the ICE version of the next-generation sedan.
