Next-generation MG ZS is bigger, sleeker, and more high-tech

After a lengthy teaser campaign, MG Motor Philippines has officially revealed its latest generation B-SUV that's set to stir the subcompact crossover market. Say hello to the all-new 2025 MG ZS, and it's available in a wide array of variants and engines.

A total of three powertrain options are available in the 2025 MG ZS. The range begins with the 1.5L naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that's available in the 1.5 Comfort and 1.5 Luxury variants. It makes a humble 110 PS and 141 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a CVT with 8 simulated gear ratios.

Up next is the more powerful 1.5L turbocharged inline-four that's exclusive only to the Sport. Thanks to forced induction, the ZS 1.5T Sport generates 170 PS and 275 Nm of torque between 3000 – 4000 rpm. Power is transferred to a 7-speed CVT.

Last but not least is the 1.5 Hybrid+, which consists of a 1.5L four-cylinder engine that's assisted by an electric motor and a 1.83 kWh battery pack. The engine alone makes 102 PS, but thanks to the electric motor, the ZS Hybrid+ makes a combined 197 PS and 250 Nm of torque. The powertrain is then mated to a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT).

Style-wise, the second-generation ZS gets eye-catching headlights and sleek wraparound LED taillights. Depending on the variant, the ZS can come with LED or halogen projectors. Also worth mentioning is a new and bolder grille along with faux side air intakes, faux skid plates, and LED daytime running lights.

When it comes to wheel designs, the 1.5 Hybrid+ and 1.5T Sport come with 18-inch alloys wrapped in 215/50 series tires. On the other hand, the 1.5 Luxury gets 17-inch alloys with 215/55 series tires. Last but not least is the 1.5 Comfort, which is equipped with 16-inch alloys and 215/60 series tires.

Size-wise, the all-new ZS measures 4430mm long, 1818mm wide, and 1635mm tall. It also has a generous 2610mm wheelbase and 140mm of ground clearance. When it comes to luggage space, the ZS can accommodate 443 liters of cargo with the rear seats up. Fold those down, however, and the cargo space goes up to 1,457 liters.

Hop inside, and the 2025 MG ZS welcomes occupants into a minimalist yet high-tech cabin. In front of the driver is a 7-inch digital instrument cluster that's available in the Hybrid+, Sport, and Luxury models. The Comfort, however, only gets analog gauges and a 3.5-inch TFT multi-info display.

Infotainment comes in the form of a touchscreen that's available in 12.3- and 10.25-inch sizes. Despite the size difference, both screens support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Automatic climate control, as well as a power-adjustable driver's seat, are offered in the Hybrid+ and Sport. On the other hand, lesser variants only get manual air conditioning and a manual driver's seat.
