Updated DOE list shows CR-V to get an update in 2026

The current-generation Honda CR-V e:HEV is one of the hybrids that impressed us when we tested it. You can check out our review of it on this link. But for those who would want to own one, they will have to shell out quite a lot of money, as it is only available in the top-spec RS trim that’s priced at PHP 2,605,000.

For 2026, however, a hybrid version of the CR-V could come at a potentially lower price tag. Based on the updated list of the Department of Energy for recognized hybrids, Honda Cars Philippines is preparing a minor model change for the CR-V - an update where the VX joins the RS in having a hybrid powertrain, and the latter getting AWD.

In the current spec, the VX variant is the mid-spec trim of the CR-V, and is the sole variant being offered with AWD. Like the entry-level V, it is powered by a 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo paired to a CVT, and comes with third-row seats.

When the minor model change units arrive, though, the VX variant is getting the 1.5-liter e:HEV powertrain with 184 PS and 335 Nm of torque. But like the RS trim where the hybrid battery lies in the third row, the VX will follow the RS in being a 5-seater instead of a 7-seater.

Based on the DOE documents, the CR-V RS e:HEV is also getting a minor update. Currently, the hybrid CR-V only comes in front-wheel-drive, but for 2026, it is getting the real-time all-wheel-drive system. Most of the features look to be carried over from the current specifications, along with Honda Sensing as standard for all the variants of the CR-V.

Lastly, the base V variant could have the HuNT version, just like the Thai market model that comes with additional exterior features such as bumper garnishes finished in copper trims and a step board. That leaves the base V variant to be the only non-hybrid CR-V in the lineup, contrary to what Thailand did when they phased out the VTEC Turbo when they launched the refreshed model last month.

As for pricing, the AWD system in the RS and the hybrid for the VX should spell a price bump from the current SRPs of both. But by how much or how big, we’ll only know should HCPI push through with the minor model change next year.
