Geely Motor PH launches the plug-in hybrid version of the EX5
After pre-selling and revealing the specifications of its newest electrified vehicle, Geely Motor Philippines Corporation has officially revealed the EX5 EM-i. This new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) from Geely is aimed directly against the likes of the BYD Sealion 6 and other similarly-sized compact crossover PHEVs.
Powering the Geely EX5 EM-i is a 1.5L engine that makes 99 PS and 125 Nm of torque. While the engine only makes a small amount of power, its job is to mostly function as a generator to recharge the onboard 18.4 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery while on the go. Driving the wheels is an electric motor that produces 160 kW or 218 PS with 262 Nm of torque.

With a full tank of gasoline and a fully charged battery, Geely claims the EX5 EM-i can do up to 1,000 km based on the NEDC cycle. On battery power alone, the crossover can travel up to 105 km without a drop of fuel. More importantly, Geely says the EX5 EM-i can achieve up to 41.6 km/L, which means every day driving can be done solely with the electric powertrain.
Recharging the battery can be done via a 6.6 kW AC charging, which can recharge the EX5 EM-i from 25% to 100% in 3 hours. Meanwhile, hooking up the PHEV to a 30 kW DC fast charger can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes. Last but not least, the PHEV also comes with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) and a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) power supply system.

Style-wise, the EX5 EM-i looks slightly different when compared to the EX5 EV. For starters, its closed-off grille is flanked by a sharp set of split LED light signatures and headlights. It also has a unique front bumper that makes it stand out from its EV sibling and features the brand's new logo for all to see.
Depending on the variant chosen, the EX5 can come with either 18-inch alloy wheels for the Pro variant or with larger 19-inch alloys in the top-of-the-line Max version. The rear design of the EX5 EM-i is largely the same as that of the EX5 EV, with its full-width LED taillights, sleek tailgate, and tailgate-mounted spoiler.

In terms of size, the EX5 EM-i measures 4740mm long, 1905mm wide, 1685mm tall, and has a 2755mm wheelbase. It also has 172mm of unladen ground clearance (150mm laden), a 5.2-meter turning radius, and a 51-liter fuel tank capacity. When it comes to luggage space, the EX5 EM-i has 528 liters with the rear seats deployed and up to 2,065 liters with the rear seats folded.

Hop aboard the EX5 EM-i, and the PHEV welcomes occupants with two large displays. One is the 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, while the other is a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display that's powered by Geely's Flyme Auto. It also has another display via a heads-up monitor for the driver to see while on the road.

Standard amenities available inside the EX5 EM-i include Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, 256-color ambient lighting, a power-adjustable driver's seat with memory seat function (Max only), leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a 16-speaker Flyme sound system (6-speakers for Pro variant), a wireless charging pad, automatic climate control with rear A/C vents, USB-A & USB-C charging ports, and a host of intelligent driver aids.

Available colors for the Geely EX5 EM-i include Alpine White, Cloudveil Silver, Glacier Blue, Jungle Green, Polar Black, and Volcanic Gray. There are also two interior color options: Sapphire Blue and Amber Brown.
Pricing of the Geely EX5 EM-i is as follows:
EX5 EM-i Pro – PHP 1.288 million
EX5 EM-i Max – PHP 1.468 million
