All-new gas-powered Toyota Tamaraw range is now available

Last year just before the holidays, Toyota Motor Philippines officially launched the next-generation Tamaraw. At the time, the automaker only revealed the all-new workhorse in long wheelbase (LWB) form which gets a 2.4L 2GD-FTV turbo-diesel engine that makes 150 PS with 343 Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual and 400 Nm of pull when paired with a 6-speed automatic.

The short wheelbase (SWB) version was nowhere to be found as TMP said they were still building up the capacity of the Tamaraw in its Sta. Rosa plant in Laguna. In addition, the automaker mentioned they saw stronger demand for the LWB turbo-diesel versions.

Fast forward to the end of February 2025, TMP has quietly revealed the variants and prices of the SWB gasoline-powered Tamaraw. The range starts with the 2.0L Dropside M/T which has a sticker price of PHP 757,000 which sticks to the brand's promise of the Tamaraw having a base price of below PHP 800,000.

Next is the 2.0L Aluminum Cargo M/T, retailing for PHP 808,000. Last but not least is the Utility Van M/T, which can serve as a cargo van or a people carrier. This one is selling for PHP 1,010,000 which makes it the most expensive SWB Tamaraw.

The Dropside pickup measures 4965mm long 1800mm wide, and 1800mm tall. The Aluminum Cargo also measures 4965mm long, is narrower at 1695mm, but is taller at 2180mm tall. Lastly, the Utility Van measures 4968mm long, 1795mm wide, and 2097mm tall. All SWB variants have a wheelbase of 2750mm and a minimum turning radius of 4.9 meters.

Payload-wise, Toyota says the Dropside can carry up to 1,025 kg of cargo while the Aluminum Cargo can move up to 935 kg. Meanwhile, the Utility Van is capable of lugging 850 kg worth of payload. Under the hood, all SWB versions of the Tamaraw come with a 2.0L 1TR-FE four-cylinder gasoline engine that makes 139 PS at 5600 rpm and 183 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. Power is then shifted to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
