BMW amps up the M3 Touring with new CS halo variant

BMW wants to make high-performance wagons great again. They already have the M3 and M5 Touring models which serve as the most powerful wagons yet from the German automaker. However, BMW believes they can make an even more powerful M3 Touring.

Just like the M3 CS they revealed before, BMW has officially unleashed the 2025 M3 CS Touring, and boy is it packing quite the hardware.

At the heart of this powerful wagon is a 3.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-six. But unlike the regular M3 Touring which is already powerful in its own right, the M3 CS Touring kicks it further up a notch. The straight-six gets a rigid crankcase, a closed-deck construction, a lightweight forged crankshaft, and a cylinder head with 3D-printed core. The cylinder bores, meanwhile, feature a weight-saving feature along with a wire-arc iron coating to reduce frictional losses. The cooling and oil delivery systems have been upgraded to handle heavy loads which is great for when driving hard on the track.

Last but not least, the twin-turbochargers now make 2.1 bar of pressure to deliver more power to the pavement. The result is 550 PS between 6250 - 7200 rpm which is an increase of 40 PS from the regular M3 Touring. Torque, meanwhile, remains the same at 650 Nm which is available from 2750 - 5950 rpm. Power is then sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission complete with carbon fiber paddle shifters and an Active M Differential in the rear axle.

From a standstill, BMW claims the M3 CS Touring can hit 100 km/h in only 3.5 seconds. It can also do 0 - 200 km/h in just over 11.7 seconds. Last but not least, the M3 CS Touring has an electronically-limited top speed of 300 km/h which is available via the M Driver’s Package. The M3 CS Touring also features an M-specific exhaust with electronically controlled flaps.

Going fast means the M3 CS Touring also has to slow down quicker and attack the corners at greater speeds. Fortunately, BMW was busy upgrading the M3 CS Touring’s chassis and braking system. Starting with the latter, the wagon comes with M Compound brakes with calipers painted Red or Black for improved stopping power. There’s also the option of having M Carbon Ceramic brakes for even better braking.

The suspension system gets electronically controlled dampers that are part of the M Adaptive Suspension and feature a model-specific setup. These include the M Servotronic steering as well as the integrated braking system. Last but not least, the M3 CS Touring is equipped with grippy track tires that measure 275/35/ZR19 in the front and 285/30/ZR20 in the back.

Other weight-saving features to make the M3 CS Touring quick on the road include the generous use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) components. To that extent, the hood, front splitter, front air intake, side mirror caps, and rear diffuser are made from the lightweight composite.

Even the cabin gets the CFRP treatment as it’s equipped with M Carbon bucket seats, the aforementioned paddle shifters, and interior trim pieces that are also made from the lightweight yet durable material. All in all, BMW says they were able to save around 15kg of weight in the interior alone. Besides having those, the M3 CS Touring comes with a three-spoke M Alcantara steering wheel, red M seat belts, a ‘CS’ badge on the center console, and door sill plates with the model lettering.

With the 2025 BMW M3 CS Touring revealed, expect the limited-run high-performance wagon to make its way here, albeit in limited numbers. Since the M3 Touring already sells for nearly PHP 10.5 million in the country, we can also expect the M3 CS Touring to sell for even more money.
