BMW introduces key changes and revamped lineup for 2025 iX

If there’s one EV from BMW’s lineup that needs a refresh, it’s the iX. With the X3 recently receiving a full-model change, it might be a while before the next-generation iX3 is revealed. However, it seems BMW has heard our pleas and has revealed the 2025 iX facelift.

While it seems BMW didn’t change much, the automaker went for the more “subtle” approach in updating the all-electric crossover. For starters, the massive dual kidney grille is now illuminated with its borders featuring a lighting signature. Meanwhile, BMW updated the design of the grille itself depending on the variant. High-grade variants feature a grille design reminiscent of the M3 and M4 while lower-grade variants get a diagonal pattern that looks just like the one used on the all-new X3.

BMW also went to the trouble of making the iX’s bumpers less busy than before. Both the front and rear bumpers now feature a more cohesive and organic design that’s sleeker and easier on the eyes. Also worth mentioning are the updated LED headlights that also come with restyled LED daytime running lights.

Other key changes BMW introduced on the 2025 iX include new wheel designs for the 20, 21, and 22-inch alloy wheels, new 23-inch alloys for the top-spec M70, a Shadowline appearance pack, M Sport and M Sport Professional trim packages, and smoked LED headlights/taillights.

Hop inside and everything has been largely carried over for the 2025 iX. From the BMW Live Cockpit Plus which features a pair of high-definition displays to the unique center console with controls for the infotainment and transmission systems, everything looks almost familiar. However, customers can now get the iX with the M Multi-Function seats which will offer a more comfortable ride. They’re standard on the M70 although lesser variants can get them albeit at a rather premium price.

Unlike regular seats, BMW says the new M Multi-Function seats come with better lateral support and a wide array of arrangements including backrest width and lumbar support. Also available for the 2025 iX include a four-zone climate control, a Harman Kardon sound system, an electrochromic glass roof, and ventilated seats to keep you cool even on the hottest of days.

Where BMW was busy updating the iX was in its lineup. Now serving as the entry-level version of the 2025 iX is the XDrive45. It makes 408 PS thanks to a pair of electric motors and can go from 0 - 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. With a fully charged 94.8 kWh battery, BMW claims the xDrive45 can travel up to 602 km (WLTP) and supports 175kW DC fast charging and up to 22kW of AC charging.

Next up is the xDrive60 which is the mid-grade variant that delivers 544 PS and can sprint from 0 - 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. Both the xDrive45 and xDrive60 have an electronically-limited top speed of 200 km/h. Thanks to a 109.1 kWh battery pack, the iX xDrive60 can cover up to 701 km. The xDrive60 also supports up to 22kW of AC charging although its DC fast charging rate is at 195kW.

Last but not least is the top-of-the-line iX M70 xDrive. This one generates a whopping 659 HP and a stump-pulling 1,100 Nm of torque. From a standstill, the M70 xDrive can catapult itself to 100 km/h in only 3.8 seconds. The top speed for the all-electric M70 xDrive is rated at a hair-raising 250 km/h. Like the xDrive60, the M70 supports 195kW DC fast charging and up to 22kW of AC charging. The new range-topping iX can do up to 600 km before needing a recharge.

Production of the 2025 BMW iX will begin in March of this year while first customer deliveries are expected to happen in Q2 later this year. With that, perhaps we can expect the updated iX to make its way to the Philippines near the end of 2025.
