Lexus PH teases mystery vehicle launching on March 18

When Lexus launched the NX all those years ago, we thought this was their smallest luxury crossover. Then the cuter UX came in and took that spot. At the time, we reckoned that Lexus couldn’t get any smaller.

Then the luxury automaker went and unveiled the LBX last year which now serves as the marque’s stepping stone into owning a Lexus. At the time of its launch, we weren’t exactly sure if Lexus Philippines planned on bringing the vehicle to the country. Now, it looks like we can expect it to make its grand debut next month.

Recently, Lexus Philippines sent us an invitation for an upcoming vehicle launch set for March 18, 2024. While no exact details were revealed, the invite did show a teaser of the mystery vehicle’s rear end. Despite Lexus’ best efforts to hide what they will be launching soon, it looks like Lexus Philippines is already gearing up to reveal the LBX next month.

Based on what other countries get, the PH-spec LBX will likely be powered by an electrified 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. Thanks to an electric motor and nickel-metal hydride battery pack, the LBX has a combined system output of 136 PS and 185 Nm of torque. Power goes to the front wheels via an eCVT although a 4WD option is available.

True to its form, the LBX is now the smallest Lexus vehicle as it measures 4160mm long, 1825mm wide, and 1560mm tall. However, it still comes with a generous 2580mm wheelbase which ensures ample legroom and cargo space for five people. In terms of style, the LBX combines chic looks with Lexus elegance that sees the crossover come with a pair of eye-catching LED headlights along with stylish LED taillights. It’s also available with massive 18-inch alloy wheels on higher-grade models to give it a more SUV-like stance.

Step inside and the LBX welcomes occupants into a simple yet sleek-looking interior dominated by a pair of screens. There’s a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 9.8-inch touchscreen infotainment complete with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. The new system even features an intelligent voice control which can be activated by saying “Hey, Lexus”. Last, but not least, the LBX can also be fitted with a 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound system along with a subwoofer for good measure.
