LBX is your (new) stepping stone in owning a Lexus crossover SUV
After opening the pre-order books last week, Lexus Philippines has officially revealed the 2024 LBX. Now serving as the luxury brand’s newest (and smallest) crossover SUV, the LBX is your first stepping stone in owning a brand-new Lexus.
Slotting below the (slightly) bigger UX, the LBX (which is short for Lexus Breakthrough X[cross]over) is a small subcompact crossover that fits right into Lexus’ brand philosophy. Featuring the “Premium Casual” design philosophy, the 2024 LBX is chic & stylish and aims to catch looks from passers-by. A pair of eye-catching LED daytime running lights sit proudly at the front of the crossover SUV and is complemented by a redesigned version of the marque’s signature “Spindle Grille”.

True to its crossover SUV form, the LBX makes generous use of body cladding along with a relatively tall ride height. This is further highlighted by the massive 18-inch alloy wheels which add to the crossover’s SUV-inspired design. Last but not least, the baby Lexus comes with a neat set of LED taillights with an integrated light bar that runs the entire width of the tailgate and sleek bumpers.

Size-wise, the 2024 LBX measures 4160mm long, 1825mm wide, and 1560mm tall. It also has a generous 2580mm wheelbase which ensures ample space for both passengers and cargo. Also worth mentioning is the vehicle’s ground clearance which is 220mm - on par with some bigger (and taller) SUVs. Last but not least, it has a turning radius of 5.2m which is suited for city driving as claimed by Lexus.
Step inside the LBX and the mini crossover SUV welcomes occupants into a minimalist yet sleek dashboard. Sitting proudly at the center is a 9.8-inch tablet-inspired touchscreen infotainment system that runs on the latest Lexus Link Connect System. It comes with an intelligent voice recognition system that can be activated by saying “Hey, Lexus”. In addition, the system supports wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity.

A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster sits in front of the driver and can display various information besides the usual speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, fuel consumption, etc. Leather upholstery comes as standard along with 50-color LED ambient lighting to make for a cozier feel while inside the LBX.
Other available amenities inside the LBX include a 6-speaker sound system, different drive modes (Eco, Normal & Sport), a host of USB charging ports, a wireless charging pad, a heads-up display, a power tailgate, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, and automatic climate control.

Under the hood of the LBX is a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that’s helped by an electric motor and a nickel-metal hydride battery pack. The result is a total system output of 136 PS and 185 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels via an eCVT.

Like all Lexus vehicles today, the LBX features a full suite of intelligent driver aids that are part of the Lexus Safety System+. This gives the crossover SUV high-tech features like adaptive cruise control, adaptive high-beams, a pre-collision system, lane-tracing assist with lane-keep assist, a driver monitoring system, front & rear-cross traffic alert, a 360-degree panoramic camera system, and a blind-spot monitoring system.

The 2024 Lexus is yours for PHP 2.968 million and is available in the following colors with a bi-tone black exterior finish; Astro Gray Metallic, Deep Azure Mica Metallic, Passionate Yellow, Red Spinel, Silver Metallic, Sonic Chrome, Sonic Copper, and Sonic Quartz.
