The concept could be put to production soon

At the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show, Isuzu Philippines showcased a concept study of its light commercial vehicle, the Traviz.

Instead of the usual cab and chassis version that could be converted to a utility van, aluminum van, refrigerated van, or dropside truck, Isuzu showed something new – a cargo van concept that could be used by logistics and delivery businesses.

Turns out, Isuzu PH could already be working on making the concept commercially available soon. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has released homologation documents for a Utility Cargo version of the Isuzu Traviz S.

The LTO document suggests the Traviz S Utility Cargo has a seating capacity of three passengers, including the driver. Furthermore, the particular vehicle also has a net capacity of 1,660 kg, which aligns with what the Concept Cargo Van shown at PIMS could carry.

Based on the comments and reactions we’ve seen from social media, potential customers see the Traviz S Cargo Van not just as a vehicle for parcel deliveries. Some are already thinking of putting forward-facing seats and side exit doors to make it a passenger van, much like the Hiace Commuter vans being used as a UV Express Service.

That already speaks volumes about the interest that Isuzu was getting with the new version of the Traviz. With the arrival of the new Tamaraw, this could be Isuzu’s potential response to making its popular commercial vehicle more versatile.
