New hybrid buses begin service for PITX–Bataan route
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Provincial Government of Bataan, in partnership with Genesis Transport Service Inc., have officially launched two new hybrid buses to serve commuters traveling between the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and Bataan.
The LTFRB, led by Chairman Atty. Vigor Mendoza II said the launch highlights the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize the transport sector, emphasizing safety, passenger comfort, and environmental sustainability.

Meanwhile, Bataan Governor Joet Garcia says that the initiative is part of the province’s carbon neutrality efforts, which will eventually shift its mass transport to more environmentally friendly units like these new hybrid diesel-electric units from Genesis.
“This is part of our goal to promote a more modern transportation system that will help our environment reduce carbon emissions and provide more convenient, safe, and reliable travel for our countrymen. Our Provincial Government has begun the gradual use of electric vehicles, including the use of patrols by the Metro Bataan Development Authority on the Roman Superhighway, free rides on electric buses on selected routes, and services of Transport Network Vehicle Services such as Grab and Xpress,” said Garcia.

Although the exact specs haven’t been revealed, the buses’ hybrid diesel-electric systems should help cut fuel use and pollution compared to older, diesel-guzzling models, which is good news for both commuters and the environment.
