27-car grid list to race in CIS this weekend

The Philippines' premier one-make race is returning to action this coming weekend at Clark International Speedway featuring 27 competing drivers for the Circuit Championship.

Like the previous seasons, the 2022 series will see drivers divided into three classes – Promotional class for Vios Cup newcomers, Sporting class for seasoned drivers of the championship, and the Super Sporting class as the top-tier category.

The Promotional class is headed by Toyota Gazoo Racing PH celebrity drivers Fabio Ide and Daniel Matsunaga, while Toyota Team Cebu is back in the series fielding a lineup consisting of Ian Rosales plus newcomers Felvin Gurrea and Alan Palacios. Meanwhile, Julia Delos Angeles is the lone female driver in the Promotional class with Toyota San Jose del Monte – Obengers Racing Team.

Troy Montero, on the other hand, is moving up to represent Toyota Gazoo Racing PH in the Sporting class. He will race against the three-car entry of JBT Racing with the father-son duo of Darrel and Jiro Garbes and fellow Promotional class graduate Maila Alivia. In addition, the trio of drivers from Obengers Racing Joaquin Garrido, Miguel Quinones, and Elysse Menorca plus RMS Cars Racing Team's Royce Sarmiento completes the Sporting class grid.

Meanwhile, Vios Cup newcomer Daryl DeLeon Taylor will get his first taste of touring car racing in the Super Sporting class, while Iñigo Anton will have his hands full competing against the faster, and more experienced drivers as he moves up to the series' top-tier level. Together, the two youngsters will go against established drivers Red Diwa, Gerard Loy, and Bryan Co with returning drivers Lord Seno and John Dizon.
