Davao Circuit Riding Academy starting to take shape

While most motorsport events in the Philippines are still on pause because of the ongoing fuel crisis, there’s something to look forward to in Mindanao when the action resumes.

A privately owned, purpose-built race track is being constructed in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur, and is called the Davao Circuit Riding Academy. Based on available reports and images, concrete paving has been completed on the Phase 1 layout, which is a 1.3 km track that can be used by both two and four-wheeled racing machines.

Some car enthusiasts have already posted videos online doing a couple of laps at the track, showing the circuit’s interesting mix of banked corners and slight elevation changes. This makes the Davao Circuit Riding Academy’s track characteristics more similar to the Batangas Racing Circuit than the Clark International Speedway.

Sources close to the people behind the facility say the track layout will still be expanded to 4.5 km, with the laying of asphalt already in the pipeline to improve the track surface. Based on the Davao Circuit Riding Academy page, there are also plans to build a dedicated motocross and off-road course in the facility.

For now, there’s no concrete timetable yet for the completion of the track, but we’ll keep an eye out for more updates about the track once information becomes available.
