Laurent Mekies steps up to lead senior team as CEO
Red Bull Racing has been in Formula One for 20 years, and all throughout its success and its struggles, it’s always been Christian Horner at the helm.
Well, that all changes for 2025. It is official. Red Bull management has dropped the bombshell – Christian Horner has been relieved from his Team Principal duties with immediate effect.
The 51-year old Horner has been in charge of Red Bull Racing since it took over from Jaguar in 2005. In his leadership, Red Bull Racing captured six constructor’s titles and 8 drivers championships from drivers Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.
It is understood that Racing Bulls team principal Laurent Mekies is stepping up to the senior team as CEO, marking the departure of another key figure in the Milton Keynes-based team after Adrian Newey, Jonathan Wheatley, and Rob Marshall.
Alan Permane, on the other hand, has been promoted as team principal of Racing Bulls. But the question is, how will Max Verstappen react to Horner’s departure? Is it also the time for Verstappen to pack his bags and leave Red Bull after this season? This shocking news just changes everything in the Formula 1 circus.
