Williams lets F1 fans decide their colors

Special liveries seem to be trending in Formula One lately. After McLaren brought back their chrome livery in Silverstone, it's Williams Racing's turn to do something unique. And yes, they let their fans decide the design.

Williams Racing has revealed the special livery they will use for the Singapore, Japanese, and Qatar Grands Prix. The FW45 will be wearing the iconic colors of Gulf Oil reminiscent of what McLaren did in 2021 when Gulf was partnering with the Woking-based team.

The livery design was the winner of the “Gulf Fan Livery Vote”, where fans chose between four themes that embody the Williams and Gulf Oil partnership. 180,000 votes were cast and in the end, the “Bolder than Bold” emerged as the winner after getting 51.9% of the votes.

“This competition was an incredible opportunity for our fans to actively engage and shape the visual identity of our team. The winning design encapsulates the essence of the Gulf and Williams Racing partnership, reflecting on the past but building on our future,” said James Vowles, Williams Racing Team Principal.
