Clark International Speedway bans outside food, drinks and water

Trial implementation to start May 1

There's an image circulating around about the Clark International Speedway management's latest bulletin that's causing a bit of an uproar on social media. And yes, it can affect you as much as your precious race car.

Apparently, the CIS management is placing restrictions on bringing outside food and beverage to the track's premises. Yes, you're no longer allowed to bring your own baon inside.

So how will we eat then while inside CIS? Apparently, a food hall will be put up to serve the loyal patrons of the track, and they will be required to use a card payment system using prepaid cards supplied by the management.

Those who frequently go on trackdays will know that there are no nearby restaurants or food concessionaires outside the CIS premises. So having a food hall inside the CIS facility would actually serve a good purpose, and management is simply trying to give the vendors exclusivity. However, here's the main cause for concern - you're also not allowed to bring drinking water or even tap water that's stored in any container.

Yes, you read that right. The bulletin clearly states that if you want something to cool down your engines (and your bodies) after a track session, you're going to have to buy from the food hall of CIS.

In an amusement park like Enchanted Kingdom or Star City, this certainly won't be a cause for concern. But the thing is, the CIS management is running a race track. They may have gone a bit far with the restrictions especially given the heat in the Philippines. Vehicles that will race inside CIS will need to have readily available water, especially for emergency purposes. And it's not just simply regular tap water, distilled water is being used for topping up a car's radiator.

Some are even concerned with how much would CIS management price their food and drinks, as normally the patrons would cook their own to save on costs. Not to mention, there's also the matter of supplies. Will there always be enough, especially water?

The bulletin says the “soft and trial implementation” will start on May 1, 2023 though CIS may have changed its mind. The official page of Clark International Speedway has deleted its social media post about the bulletin. The image still exists on other social media pages. 

UPDATE : According to our sources, Clark International Speedway has already fully implemented the bulletin as of July 7, 2023. Outside food and drinks are being confiscated at the circuit's entrance.
