AlphaTauri is the sixth team to reveal their 2022 challenger
After Red Bull Racing revealed their 2022 Formula 1 challenger last week, its sister team AlphaTauri has now pulled the covers off their new car for the season. Unlike the RB18, which still looked like a concept, the new AT03 looks ready to hit the race track for pre-season testing. The car also wears a new blue-white color scheme that the team will run for the 2022 season.

Compared to the other 2022 F1 cars, the AT03 stands out like the Aston Martin AMR22. Instead of vents that run the length of the body, AlphaTauri’s chassis features an aggressive cut beneath the side intakes. It’s not that obvious when viewed from the side, but the dead center and front quarter photos give it away.

AlphaTauri had its most successful season in 2021, finishing sixth in the constructor’s title with 142 points in total. Pierre Gasly even managed to score a podium finish in Baku last year. The team will retain the lineup of Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda. Similar to Red Bull, the cars will run rebadged Honda engines as the Japanese manufacturer has officially left the sport. Likewise, there will be no Honda branding, but the car does sport the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) logo.

“I am excited to finally reveal what our 2022 Formula 1 car will look like. It is a completely new era for F1 and we hope that this package will be very strong, following last year’s success. Once again, we have worked closely with AlphaTauri (Red Bull’s clothing brand) to launch our new car and I think we’ve managed to deliver something very special,” said Team Principal Franz Tost.
Whether the current design of the AlphaTauri AT03 will be retained is still unknown. The team might decide to change a few things up at the last minute before the racing begins, like Red Bull.
