AWD Honda Civic does the quarter mile in 7.974 seconds
The opening leg of the 2025 National Drag Racing Championship Series has proved that old Hondas don’t age – they just get faster.
Drag racer Michael Lim has set a new Philippine record in the quarter mile with a 7.974-second, 300.497 km/h run in an all-wheel-drive Honda Civic EG. It’s the first time for a Philippine-built drag car to breach the 7-second barrier, and it happened at the first leg of the 2025 NDRC in Clark International Speedway.

On an earlier attempt at the 2025 NDRC, the AWD Civic EG already broke the Philippine quarter mile drag record with an 8.072-second run. But Lim went one better as he finally breached the 7-second barrier with the 7.974-second quarter mile run.

The all-wheel-drive Civic EG has a turbocharged K-series Honda engine that puts out over 1500 horsepower and is fitted with a sequential gearbox for faster gear shifts. Understandably, information is scarce about other technical specifications of the 7-second Civic. Lim shared on social media that the drag car was built by 3 collaborating performance shops - KLab, Staginglanes / Vannitec, and Area51 Race Cars.
The next round of the 2025 National Drag Racing Championship Series will take place at Batangas Racing Circuit on February 1-2 to kick off the Southern Series leg.
