An annual summer gathering for car enthusiasts

Every summer, the car styling, tuning, and restoration scene from Subic, Olongapo, and Pampanga get together with fellow car enthusiasts from neighboring provinces at the Subic Bay Auto Show for a day of showing off their rides. The third edition last April 28, 2012, attracted close to two thousand people who went to see the different cars on display from tricked-out rides to brand new vehicles from Ford, Honda, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Toyota. Along with the show was a Sound Off Competition by Kicker.

The tricked-out cars ranged from mild to wild-styled American, European, and Japanese compact cars and sport trucks. Also featured in the show were some restored and modified American cars being more common in the area as Subic Bay was a former US naval base. Some unique cars we saw were a race-inspired MINI Cooper, a rare 1968 BMW 2002, a 1950 Chevy Bel Air and a 1970s Lincoln Continental with hydraulic suspension.

The level of enthusiasm for cars in Subic Bay is really big as we experienced for ourselves at our Speedfest last February. We are looking forward to next year's show which head organizer Ameer Cabahug expects to be even bigger.
