MMDA and SM Supermall launch traffic information sharing project
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has partnered with SM Supermalls to expand public access to real-time traffic information, reinforcing the agency’s push for smarter, data-driven traffic management and greater transparency in public service.
Under the collaboration, the MMDA has granted viewing access to select traffic CCTV feeds, which are now being displayed in participating SM Supermalls. According to MMDA Chairman, Atty. Don Artes, the live feeds allow motorists and mall-goers to check real-time traffic conditions along nearby roads and major corridors before heading out.
At SM Megamall, the displays currently show live traffic footage from the southbound sections of EDSA-Shaw Boulevard and EDSA-Ayala, as well as the northbound portions of EDSA-Guadix Drive and EDSA-Santolan.

Speaking at the launch held at SM Megamall, Artes said the initiative will not stop there. He shared that the program will soon be rolled out to other major malls, including SM Mall of Asia and SM North EDSA, and will be complemented by traffic advisories covering not just EDSA but key roads across Metro Manila.
By tapping into SM Supermalls’ wide network of high-foot-traffic public spaces, the MMDA is extending the reach of its traffic information services and bringing timely, reliable updates closer to commuters. The project aims to help the public make more informed travel decisions, ultimately contributing to smoother traffic flow and reduced congestion in critical areas.
SM Supermalls Regional Operations Head and Senior Assistant vice president Christian Mathay echoed the value of the partnership, noting that it highlights the impact of public-private collaboration in delivering simple, practical solutions that benefit everyday commuters.
He added that the launch marks the first step toward more data-driven and community-focused initiatives, made possible through close cooperation with the MMDA, to help Filipinos move around Metro Manila more safely, efficiently, and with greater confidence.
