Mitsubishi says they will continue to tie up with Yamaha
If there’s one thing that we were surprised to learn about the Mitsubishi Xforce before making its official reveal, it was the fact that the automaker partnered up with Yamaha for its sound system.
Whereas most automakers chose to partner with brands like Bose, JBL, and Sony, Mitsubishi went the extra mile and asked Yamaha to make them a unique sound system just for the Xforce B-SUV. The sound specialist delivered and gave Mitsubishi’s newest crossover a special 8-speaker sound system.
So why did Mitsubishi go to the trouble of asking Yamaha to help them? During a press conference after the reveal of the Xforce, we asked the automaker this exact question.

According to Masahiro Ito, Chief Product Specialist at Mitsubishi Motors, the idea of putting a special sound system began during the vehicle’s initial product planning. They talked with multiple suppliers but it was only when they started talking with Yamaha that it began to take shape. Knowing Yamaha’s expertise in sound, music, as well as musical instruments since 1887, Mitsubishi wanted superior sound quality which Yamaha was able to deliver.
“We have the same kind of passion. We wanted to make a great quality car and we decided to tie up with Yamaha so they could create the best sound. That is one of the main reasons why we partnered with them,” said Ito.
Another reason Mitsubishi partnered with Yamaha is that the company uses unique tuning to make its sound system stand out. Moreover, Ito claims that Yamaha doesn’t use the same sound system on different models - highlighting the importance of having great audio fidelity in each vehicle.

Can we expect Mitsubishi to continue partnering with the sound specialist with the Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium system available in the Xforce across all variants? Ito shared that they will continue to tie up with Yamaha although he did not say whether all vehicles will come with the brand’s special sound system. Perhaps Mitsubishi will make Yamaha’s sound system available on certain models or variants in the future.
