Isuzu gives mu-X plenty of exterior, interior & tech upgrades for 2025 model year
After releasing a teaser image of its refreshed 7-seater SUV last week, Isuzu Thailand has officially taken the covers off the updated mu-X, and boy do we like what we are seeing.

Say hello to the refreshed Isuzu mu-X and its more aggressive looks for the 2025 model year. Featuring a bolder and fiercer exterior design, the updated 7-seater SUV also gets plenty of high-tech upgrades in its latest refresh along with new amenities to keep it up-to-date with its competitors.
Starting with the most obvious first, the frame-based SUV gets a sharper-looking front end. The new top-of-the-line RS variant gives the mu-X a sporty honeycomb grille painted black and features an “RS” logo. The mu-X RS also comes with what Isuzu describes as a “Fighter Jet” front bumper that comes with an air curtain that reduces air resistance for improved aerodynamics. Completing the sportier look are the massive 20-inch black alloy wheels and the neon green/gloss black accents found throughout the exterior.

As for the regular mu-X, all variants now come with new Dynamic Blade LED daytime running lights, a blacked-out honeycomb grille with silver trim accents, redesigned LED taillights, 20-inch turbine-inspired alloy wheels, and a similar fighter jet front bumper design.

Hop aboard and Isuzu has been busy giving the mu-X a more high-tech interior. In line with the “Bold and Dynamic” design concept, the 2025 mu-X features a new massive multi-info display, redesigned seat cushions for a more comfortable ride, and new ambient lighting on higher-grade models for that added appeal.

On the technology front, there's a new infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto available in the range, a smart tailgate, a 360-degree camera system for extra security, and a suite of intelligent driver aids (adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning & automatic emergency braking, automatic high beam, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning with prevention, traffic jam assist, rear-cross traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring).

Also worth mentioning are two new features we hope will make their way into the Philippine-spec models. First up is the new under-floor view which will give drivers a better view of the terrain when going off-road. It has various camera settings which will be useful when going off the beaten path. There's also the Rough Terrain System which helps manage power in both 4x2 and 4x4 versions of the mu-X – allowing drivers to pass obstacles with ease. Last but not least is electric power steering (EPS) which Isuzu says will make for easier driving in both city & highway settings.
Under the hood, all remains the same in the 2025 mu-X. That means a choice between two turbo-diesel engines; the 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX that generates 190 PS with 450 Nm of torque and the 1.9-liter RZ4E that makes 150 PS with 350 Nm of pull. All variants of the 2025 mu-X are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission as the 6-speed manual is no longer available.

With the 2025 Isuzu mu-X now available in Thailand, it might be a while before the refreshed SUV makes its way to the Philippines. Hopefully, we won't have to wait that long for its eventual arrival.
