GAC Aion V compact crossover EV starts at PHP 1.498M

GAC International made its presence felt yesterday by launching several all-electric vehicles in the Philippines. Under the company’s theme “GAC Global Ecosystem - Leading A New Era of Green Mobility in the Philippines, the automaker launched not one but two EVs as part of its global strategic model.

One of the vehicles GAC launched was the Aion V, a compact crossover that’s aimed at the likes of the BYD Atto 3. Measuring 4605mm long, 1854mm wide, 1686mm tall, and sporting a 2775mm wheelbase, the Aion V combines space and practicality in an all-electric compact EV. Speaking of space, the Aion V comes with a 427-liter cargo area with the rear seats up. Fold them down, however, and the luggage area expands to 978 liters.

At the heart of the Aion V is the brand’s Magazine Battery 2.0, which they claim is fireproof even under direct impact and is liquid-cooled. It’s available in two sizes: 64.5 kWh in the Elite and 75.26 kWh for the range-topping Premium. The battery sends power to an electric motor that puts out 183 PS with 240 Nm of torque in the Elite and 224 PS with 240 Nm of torque in the Premium variant. On a full charge, GAC claims the Aion V Elite can travel up to 504 km while the Aion V Premium can do up to 603 km, both based on the NEDC cycle.

Both Aion V variants support Type 2 and CCS charging, with the Premium capable of DC fast charging of up to 180 kW (Elite only rated for 150 kW). Meanwhile, both models support 6.6 kW of AC charging. It also comes with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) that supports up to 3.3 kW of external power.

Providing infotainment is a 14.6-inch touchscreen media display that supports navigation and Apple CarPlay. The screen also has navigation, a multimedia system, and doubles as the 360-degree camera/reverse camera. Other in-car features include a 50W wireless charging pad, ambient lighting, soundproof glass, and a host of intelligent driver aids.
