Toyota Vios bags Automobile of the Year title at AFPC

The 2012-2013 AutoFocus People's Choice Awards

The Toyota Vios recently bagged the title of Automobile of the Year during the party for the 2012-2013 Auto Focus People’s Choice Awards.

The AFPCA, organized and conducted by Sunshine Television Production and Marketing Services Corp. (STV), is a nationwide public poll to determine the country’s most popular automobile brands and models. The voting for the 8^th annual edition AFPCA ran from July 1-September 30, 2012 and also included vehicle sales in the selection process.

“The purpose of combining on-line votes with unit sales in the AFPCA selection process was to be more in line with the actual preferences of car buyers and owners, and what would readily be apparent to most people out on the road. It can often be difficult to attest to a particular model’s wide popularity when you hardly come across that model in the course of your daily drive or commute. Likewise we had to give credence to the fact that buying a particular car is the ultimate reflection of choice.” commented Ray Butch Gamboa, STV Chairman/CEO.

In the AFPCA tally, unit sales carried a 60% weight factor, while votes turned in during the 3-month on-line poll on Facebook were subject to a 40% weighted score.

The 2012-2013 Auto Focus People’s Choice Awards concluded with Toyota grabbing a lion’s share of 8 Model of the Year awards to go along with the prized Automobile of the Year title. BMW Philippines also had a share of the limelight with 4 Model of the Year wins in the luxury category.
