Toyota PH recalls Avanza, Veloz, and Yaris Cross for shock absorber issue

Does your Toyota Avanza, Veloz, or Yaris Cross have a front shock absorber problem?

Heads up to Toyota Avanza, Veloz, and Yaris Cross owners. The Department of Trade & Industry has released an advisory about the aforementioned vehicles.

Based on the DTI's post, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is conducting a special service campaign for the front shock absorber assembly of the Avanza, Veloz, and Yaris Cross. According to the automaker, due to an incorrect tightening of the front shock absorber nuts, there's a possibility that this may cause damage to the vehicle. In addition, it could also pose a risk to the vehicle's stability.

To rectify the issue, authorized Toyota dealers will retighten the front shock absorber nuts and inspect for missing or damaged parts. Affected customers will not be charged for the repair.

A total of 36,930 combined units of the Avanza and Veloz are part of the recall, manufactured from January 7, 2022, to September 4, 2023. On the other hand, 3,378 examples of the Yaris Cross built from May 29, 2023, to September 4, 2023, will need to have their front shock absorber nuts checked and fixed.

This is not the first time TMP has had to recall vehicles this early in the year. Last January, the automaker posted two separate recalls. The first involved a brake issue which saw several examples of the Raize, Avanza, and Veloz being recalled. The other involves a side impact weld issue for the Avanza and Veloz MPVs.
