DNGA Vios could be finally coming to PH market
A clearer picture seems to be emerging for Toyota Motor Philippines and the all-new Vios.
Last week, TMP received approval for a passenger vehicle with an exact displacement that aligns with the 1NR-VE engine and curb weight of the AC100 Vios. Now, another approval has surfaced. And this time, it’s a passenger vehicle with a 1496cc engine displacement that equates to a 1.5-liter engine capacity.

For those who know their Toyota engines, the 1496cc engine we’re talking about is the 2NR-VE, which powers the brand’s current vehicles using the Daihatsu DNGA platform. These include the Yaris Cross, the Avanza, and the Veloz.
This time though, the curb weight of the mystery vehicle is between 1135 to 1165 kg – which aligns with the typical curb weight of a B-segment sedan where the Vios belongs. With this latest development, it looks like Toyota Motor Philippines is now prepping the AC100 Vios and introduce it to the market soon.

Based on the approvals made, the all-new Vios could follow its previous generations in having a choice of 1.3 and 1.5-liter engines. Currently, we’re seeing multiple approvals for the 1.3 variants. As for the 1.5-liter which is likely to be the range-topping variant, there’s only one approval for now.
If we’re right about this one, Toyota could offer the 1.5-liter AC100 Vios with just a CVT transmission, while the 1.3-liter versions that are meant for fleet and taxi use could also be offered with a manual.

The TGR Philippine Cup 2025 season is wrapping up in August, which leaves TMP with plenty of time in Q4 2025 to prepare for an upcoming launch. Will it finally be the all-new Vios? Or does TMP have other plans in mind? This will be an exciting next few months, so stay tuned for further updates.
