Toyota Hilux has big price increase for select variants in PH

With excise tax for pickups, Hilux GR-S gets PHP 302K price increase

Toyota Motor Philippines has significantly raised prices of select variants of the Hilux, which could be a reflection of the excise taxes being reimposed to pickup trucks under the CMEPA act.

The biggest price increase in the Hilux lineup is in the top-of-the line GR-S 4x4. From PHP 2,178,000, the variant now retails for PHP 2,480,000. That is a PHP 302,000 price hike compared to last month’s prices.

Likewise, prices have significantly increased in the Conquest 4x4, Conquest 4x2, G and E that varies between PHP 260,000 to 280,000. For the entry-level J, prices have increased between PHP 90,000 to PHP 120,000. Check the table below for the exact figures of the price increases:

Interestingly, single cab variants of the Hilux did not have a price increase, specifically in its FX, Cargo, and Cab & Chassis variants, which could indicate that single cab pickup trucks may still be exempt from excise taxes. Hopefully we’ll get a clearer picture once the IRR for the CMEPA act is published in the country’s official gazette.

The all-new Tamaraw, on the other hand, has a very slight price increase for the short wheelbase gas variants, with the 2.0-liter SWB Utility Van getting a PHP 15,000 price hike and now retails for PHP 1,025,000. Prices of long wheelbase diesel variants of the Tamaraw remain the same.

Currently, other pickup truck brands are yet to implement major price increases but some are already giving hints of an upcoming price hike in their social media pages.
